How many times do dogs mate before getting pregnant?

Many dogs take up to 3 mating processes before they get fertilized according to many experts. The female first has to accept a male, then mating starts on a daily basis for about 6 days consecutively. This will most likely lead to pregnancy in various dogs.

Female dogs usually let the male ones mount them, especially when it’s during the estrus period. This period normally occurs between the ninth and fifteenth day, of the count is from the first day of your dog’s menstrual period.

Most times, the blood flow usually halts when the feminine mutt achieves fertility. Then the bright red blood discharge is then replaced by a rather pale colored liquid. This level of fertilization, is named “the standing heat” based on the fact that the female dogs tend to move their tail by wagging it, besides them allowing their male counterparts mount them.

What number of days will a Female mutt allow her male counterpart mount her?

There is an average period in which this happens, that period is usually  seven days. But this decision is actually up to the female dogs as some can choose to allow various male dogs mount them for more days, or even less. Some even allow dogs mount them for two weeks.

Do female dogs mate during the Estrus period?

The Estrus period usually lasts during one and two weeks, this period can be lengthy or smaller depending on the dog. You should always know things like when your female mutt begins to discharge blood, this is a way to approximately record the stage at which your dog’s heat cycle starts.

You can also see the vet for professional tests like hormonal tests and checking of your dog’s vaginal region for smears. This is another way to know when your dog’s nails estrus period starts.

How many times should you let your dog breed?

Dog owners who are experienced in breeding, can allow their dogs mate for over a long period of time. Most allow their dogs mate for 6 days to achieve the best results. One thin they do is that they always give gaps in the mating process, so as not to let it become consecutive. They do this by separating the male mutts after a single mounting session is done.

Many people tell folk tales that most female dogs usually mate as much as they desire, and after pregnancy their male mate disappears.

This is not a true statement because many female dogs do not have an idea of their pregnancy status, and some feminine mutts will not even allow their male counterparts get on top of them, even when they are not pregnant and in their fertile or estrus period. This could be due to various negative conflicting emotions like discomfort, fear, anger, hunger etc.

Female dogs can also be selective like humans. There have been various cases where the female dog does not accept mating offer from a certain dog, but accepts from others. So if your female dog’s doesn’t want to mate with the male dog you desire, you could consider trying another one out as it might actually fix the impending situation. If it does not work, the only thing you can do is to consider artificial mating, which is usually done professionally.

Is it possible for dogs to mate multiple times in a particular day?

There are definitely no restrictions when it comes to how many times your dog can actually mate ok a given day. As long as it is given a go ahead by a female mutt, or she is in her heat period, they can take on as many counterparts as they want in a full day.

Usually the female dogs get irritated easily from constant mounting, and they might begin to restrict the male dogs from mounting them. But if they are opportune, male dogs could actually mate many times in a given day, even if it is not certain that multiple mating sessions would bring about fertilization and increase pregnancy chances.

But many professional breeders think that male dogs should only mate once or twice in a day, because an abnormal increase in a male mutt’s mating sessions could reduce the quality of it’s sperm build, and this will make him unable to perform for some days or even cause impotency.
